10 + 1 Things I Do Beyond Brushing and Flossing to Keep My Teeth Shining
I brush, floss and clean my tongue everyday. But I pay a little more attention to my teeth. What is it that I do? Simple things that don’t take a lot of my time. Here’s the list.
- I use a small-headed toothbrush so that it reaches the far corners in my mouth.
- I drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep my mouth salivated. This prevents the formation of bacteria.
- I eat a lot of fiber. Roughage is a part of every meal of mine. This helps clean my mouth and takes care of my overall health too.
- I rinse my mouth every time I eat or drink something.
- I change my toothbrush every three months. If the bristles look tattered at any time, I change it immediately.
- I bite into a carrot or an apple when I feel hungry. They cleanse my mouth along with satisfying that hunger.
- I don’t use my teeth to bite my nails or open containers.
- I always brush gently. I make sure that I spend at least two-three minutes brushing the teeth. In fact, I play a song or two while I brush.
- I eat whole fruits instead of fruit juices. The fiber in the fruit helps keep the tongue clean, which further keeps the bacteria at bay.
- I leave a gap of an hour between a meal and brushing. The teeth are extremely vulnerable after a meal. Brushing immediately after a meal leads to teeth erosion.
- And, yeah, I visit the dentist once very six months.
If you do what I do, I am sure your teeth sparkle the same way as mine.
Happy smiling!
