Are You Damaging Your Teeth?

Published by Wayzata Dental Staff at 11:02 am under Dental Care

Yes, we know, you wouldn’t damage your teeth intentionally. And we are not talking about using a hammer to knock them down. What we are talking about is what we consider dental sins. These are habits that we may have, and which affect our smiles miserably.

  • Do you snack on sweets just before crashing? You may have a sweet tooth, but it does not mean you invite bacteria to feast on your teeth while you are asleep. Try to avoid eating sweets just before bedtime, and if you have to, make sure that brush you teeth thoroughly before going to sleep.

  • Do you brush only the visible teeth? Someone once said, “You don’t have to brush your teeth – just the ones you want to keep.” If you want to keep only a few of your teeth, go ahead and ignore the rest.
  • Does your toothbrush appear all old and tattered? If you wouldn’t wear tattered clothes, how can you subject your teeth to a tattered toothbrush? Get a new brush at once. You should change your toothbrush every three months even if it doesn’t look worn out.
  • Do you ignore dental problems and don’t bother visiting the dentist? Are you in the habit of ignoring toothache and bleeding gums? You may think these are temporary problems, but they may be signs of a bigger problem. Never the slightest hint of a dental problem; visit your dentist at once.

Taking care of your teeth is not that difficult. Don’t embarrass your smile by ignoring the basics.

Happy smiling!
