Are You Treating Your Teeth Well?

Published by Wayzata Dental Staff at 7:05 pm under Dental Care

Some of us abuse our teeth all the time, unintentional though it may be. We fail to understand how some seemingly insignificant habits can affect our dental health, ruining our smiles. Find out if you are indulging in any of the following bad dental habits.

  • Using teeth to open bottles: This habit may prove the strength of your teeth, but they won’t remain strong for long if you keep using them as openers. Spare the teeth, get an opener!
  • Picking teeth with anything: OK, first thing first. Overusing toothpicks is a bad habit. And if you decide to pick your teeth using anything available in front of the eye, you are harming your teeth in a big way. Don’t use pins, matchsticks, forks to pick your teeth. You really don’t want bleeding gums and painful teeth.
  • Grinding teeth: This is something we often do when we are angry or tense. However, no reason is good enough for you to indulge in this bad habit. Grinding can cause chipping of teeth, marring your smile.
  • Biting nails: OK, this serves dual purpose, I know. Of releasing tension and of keeping nails from growing. But trust me, there is nothing more annoying than gnawing on your teeth. ‘Nail-biting’ sounds ok in literature, but you don’t have to implement it literally when you are tense.

Quit habits that stand to damage your dental health in any way. Treat your teeth well and you shall be rewarded with a smile you will be envied for.

Happy smiling!
