Are You Visiting Your Dentist Regularly?

Published by Wayzata Dental Staff at 11:16 am under Dentist

We have always asked you to see your dentist if you notice the slightest sign of a dental problem. Do you follow the advice or are you in the habit of ignoring dental problems and waiting for them to vanish on their own. Dental problems don’t vanish if not treated; they may cause bigger problems if left unattended.

It is important you don’t just make customary visits to the dentist every six months but see him/her every time you notice a problem. Here is a list of a few scenarios when you should visit the dentist.

  • If an injury has caused you to lose a tooth, visit the dentist right away. Try pushing the tooth back in its socket in the mouth. If you cannot, put it in some milk and rush to the dental clinic.

  • If you have bad breath regularly, you need to find out what’s causing them and how to get rid of it. Your dentist will help you figure it out.
  • If you gums bleed often, you need to see the dentist. If your gums have been bleeding for more than two days, you need to see him/her immediately.
  • If you have been suffering from a toothache for more than two days, you need to find the underlying cause. Toothache can be an indication of an infection or cavities.
  • If there are visible, hard deposits on the surface of your teeth, you need to get your teeth cleaned. These deposits are tartar and they pave way to teeth decay in the long run.
  • If your teeth are stained, you need cleaning. You also need to find out what’s causing them and take remedial action.
  • If you gums are swollen or red, you may have a gum disease. Visit your dentist at once.

Don’t wait for a problem to worsen to go to the dentist. Getting him/her to check the problem will save you a lot of pain and discomfort later.

Happy smiling!
