Basic Dental Care Tips
Dental care is all about doing simple things regularly and religiously. Let us look at some of the basic tips on dental care.
- Brush at least twice a day. Make sure you brush before you hit the bed. If you can manage brushing after all your meals, you will definitely boast of good dental health all your life.
- Wait for at least an hour after a meal before you pick up the toothbrush.
- Floss immediately after you brush. This helps clean your teeth thoroughly. Floss at least once a day.
- Clean you tongue using a scraper once a day. Do this immediately after you have brushed and flossed. Don’t be too hard on your tongue while cleaning it.
- Rinse your mouth after eating or drinking anything. Since brushing is not possible every time you pop something in your mouth, rinsing is a good option.
- Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. This will not only keep your mouth hydrated but also clean. A hydrated mouth prevents gum and dental diseases.
- Change your toothbrush every three months, even if it appears new. If it looks tattered sooner, change it right away.
- Don’t eat something sweet just before hitting the bed. Ending the day with a dessert may sound like a good idea but if you do indulge in one, make sure you follow it up with through brushing.
- Last but definitely not least, visit your dentist once every six months. If you notice the slightest symptom of a dental problem, visit him/her sooner.
Happy smiling!
