Brushing the Teeth Right
If somebody tells you that you don’t know how to hold a spoon, you will be offended. But actually, it does not matter how you hold it as long as you are able to put the food in your mouth. This logic does not work with all things though. If someone tells you that you don’t know how to use the toothbrush, you should be worried. If you are not using it right, you are not brushing right, thereby letting bacteria breed in your mouth.
So, what should you do? Rectify the error. And it’s not rocket science, you know. Let’s see how you should use the toothbrush.
- Hold the brush at 45 degrees angle from your teeth surface. You don’t have to absolutely right with the angle, but you get the idea.
- Start with brushing the front teeth. Use upward and downward motions to clean them.
- Don’t brush two or more teeth at the same time. Brush only one tooth at a time.
- Apply short strokes to brush your teeth.
- Brush both sides of your front and side teeth.
- Brush the front, back, and top of the molars as these have three exposed sides.
- Use gentle strokes when brushing. Brushing too hard will only cause discomfort and damage your gums.
- Brush along the gum line carefully and gently. This will help prevent any plaque formation.
Brushing is not enough to clean your teeth thoroughly. Use floss to clean the gaps between your teeth and the corners that the toothbrush cannot reach.
Simple, isn’t it? Start brushing right from today for healthy teeth.
Happy smiling!
