Dental Care Routine
Why are we so fond of quick-fixes? Whether it is skin care, weight loss, or dental health, we look for quick-fixes instead of following a routine. Most of such fixes are fad, and the ones that work bring temporary relief. If you want long lasting results, stick to a routine. Let me share with you a dental care routine.
- Brush at least twice a day, preferably after meals.
- Brush before you go to bed. This will ensure that bacteria don’t play in your mouth while you are asleep.
- Brush for at least 2-3 minutes, every time. Brushing for just a few seconds doesn’t help clean the teeth.
- Follow brushing with thorough flossing. This will ensure thorough cleaning of the teeth.
- Clean your tongue using a tongue-scraper once a day. Clean teeth won’t help if the tongue is allowing bacteria to flourish.
- Rinse your mouth after eating or drinking anything. Since brushing is not possible every time you consume something, you should rinse your mouth thoroughly.
- Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Water not only cleanses your mouth but also keeps it hydrated, preventing gum diseases.
Don’t eat something sweet just before going to bed. You won’t just be pampering yourself but also the bacteria in your mouth. Make sure you change your toothbrush every three months. Change it sooner if it looks tattered. Don’t brush immediately after a meal. Wait for an hour before you pick up the toothbrush.
And remember to visit your dentist every six months.
Do a bit everyday to take care of your dental health and you will never need any quick-fix.
Happy smiling!
