Eating Right for Dental Health
A balanced diet is very important for our overall well-being. You will be surprised to know that the sparkle of our teeth also depends on what we eat. If you are eating the right food, your smile will say so. If you are not, you should stop cribbing about a dull smile.
In today’s post, I will share with you some food-related tips to keep your smile healthy.
- I understand you cannot let go of that glazed doughnut you see in the café everyday. For people with the sweet tooth, it is difficult to restrict themselves. I will not ask you to shun sweets from your life. However, make it a point to eat them only during meal times.
- You may think that a glass of fruit juice freshens you up in times of stress and fatigue, but you will be surprised to find out that a glass of cold water will do the same at that time. As for the nutrients in the juice, grab a whole fruit instead of its beaten-to-death pulp. This will provide you the necessary fiber and keep your enamel from eroding.
- Carry apples and carrots with you. Bite into them when you feel a sudden hunger pang. Applles and carrots are considered cleansing foods that help keep your teeth clean.
- Eat foods that have calcium, fluoride, and vitamins. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese in your everyday diet. Also eat a lot of leafy green vegetables.
- Avoid carbonated drinks at all costs. They do nothing but erode and stain your teeth. If you take an odd sip or two at times, use a straw to do that.
