No amount of brushing and flossing will help if you have not been eating right. The food you eat can make or break your smile. If you want a smile that sparkles consistently, take care of your teeth, and pay attention to the food you consume.

Does your daily diet include calcium? Calcium is what makes your teeth strong. You need to consume calcium-rich food everyday. Make milk, yogurt, cheese, or any other dairy product a part of your daily diet. Green vegetables like spinach also have a lot of calcium. You can eat soy products too. If you love salmon or sardines, rejoice! They are very good sources of calcium.

Consuming calcium-rich food won’t help if you are not getting enough vitamin D. Calcium is absorbed by the body only if the body gets enough vitamin D. So, this vitamin is extremely important for good dental health. Don’t look for this vitamin in pills. Spending a few minutes in the sun everyday will give you all the vitamin D your body needs. Sources of the vitamin in food are egg yolk, fish, liver, milk, and soy drinks.

Healthy teeth also needs vitamin C as it helps prevent gum diseases. Guavas, mangoes, pineapples, and lemons are a rich sources of vitamin C. You can also eat vegetables like tomatoes, cauliflower, and papaya for this vitamin.

There is another thing you need to keep your teeth shining. It is fiber. Fiber not only helps clean your mouth but also your entire digestive system.

It is also important that you drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday.

Happy smiling!
