Five Elements of the Dental Care Routine
Numerous times on this blog, I have talked about following a good dental care routine. What exactly is a dental care routine? Let me take you through the five most important elements of this routine.
Brushing after meals
The first brushing in the morning freshens your breath and helps you get rid of the bad breath. It is the brushing after every meal that actually keeps the bacteria at bay.
Everyday flossing
Flossing is as important as brushing. While brushing takes care of the surfaces of the teeth, flossing ensures that the spaces between the teeth are cleaned.
Cleaning the tongue
It is important to clean your tongue once a day. Don’t scrape it too much at that can make cracks on your tongue, making home for bacteria.
Rinsing your mouth
It is important to rinse your mouth after consuming anything. A sip of juice or a bite of chocolate can help bacteria grow and flourish inside your mouth if you are hours away from your post-meal brushing. You cannot possibly brush every time you put something in your mouth. But you can rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash.
Visiting the dentist
You may not always have a visible reason to visit your dentist, but you should still visit him/her for a check-up like you would for your general health. One visit in six months should be a part of your annual itinerary.
Following a dental care will help only if you keep away from certain habits like teeth-grinding, nail-biting, and snacking on sweets between meals.
Happy smiling!
