Good Dental Care Habits
Dental care is all about practicing dental hygiene and boosting it up with the right food. In today’s post, we will look at a bunch of habits that contribute to good dental care.
- Brush after every meal. This helps your mouth clean.
- Brush before going to bed. The bacteria flourish when you are asleep. Make sure you get rid of food debris in your mouth before you go to bed.
- Brush at least an hour after a meal.
- Brush for at least three minutes every time.
- Use a toothbrush with soft bristles.
- Change your toothbrush every three months. Change it earlier if the bristles look tattered.
- Clean your tongue using a tongue scrapper once a day. Make sure you do not scrape too hard.
- Floss your teeth immediately after you have brushed. This will help keep the mouth clean.
- Rinse your mouth after eating anything.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Eat sweets only during meals.
- Eat fruits instead of drinking the juices.
- Eat at least one dairy product everyday.
- Eat a cube of cheese immediately after a meal. This neutralizes the affects of food-acids on your teeth.
- Eat fruits and vegetables. They will provide you all the necessary nutrients for healthy teeth and a sparkling smile.
- Use a straw when drinking a beverage.
- Cut down on smoking and drinking.
- Avoid snacking on sweets between meals.
- Do not bite your nails.
- Do not use your teeth as tools to open bottles.
- Avoid grinding or clenching your teeth.
- See your dentist at least once in six months.
Happy smiling!
