Good Dental Habits

Good dental habits refer to the habits that define a proper dental care routine. Sporting good dental habits helps maintain a scintillating smile. Here is a list of some good dental habits.

  • Brushing at the right time, the right way
Brushing does not help much if it is not done the right way at the right time. Ask your dentist for the correct way of brushing the teeth. Leave a gap of an hour after a meal to brush your teeth. Always brush your teeth before you go to bed.

  • Following up brushing with flossing
Brushing alone cannot clean the teeth properly. Floss your teeth once you have brushed.

  • Snacking the right way
It is important to know what to snack on when you are hungry. A fruit is a better idea than a bar of chocolate. Make it a habit to snack on the right food.

  • Replacing fruit juices with fruits
While fruits help keep our teeth and gums clean, fruit juices do more harm than good. It is better to eat a fruit than gulp down a glass of fruit juice. A fruit contains fiber that helps keep our mouth clean.

  • Cutting down on smoking and drinking
Smoking and drinking have immediate, visible effect on oral health apart from the long-term ones. Cutting down on the number of cigarettes you smoke and reducing the amount of alcohol you drink will go a long way in maintaining not only good oral health but also overall health.

  • Taking in fluoride
If your drinking water does not have fluoride, go for fluoride toothpaste. Your dentist can help choose the right one for you.

  • Taking in calcium
Consume dairy products as much as you can. Milk, yogurt and other milk products are excellent sources of calcium. Calcium is very important for our teeth’s well-being.

Happy smiling!
