If you have had to bear someone else’s bad breath, you know how irritating it is. Do you want to chase people away? Are you letting your breath ruin your personality? If you don’t want a foul smell in your mouth, start following a proper dental care routine from today.

There are several things that trigger bad breath. The most common ones are:

  • Consumption of tobacco

  • Consumption of alcohol
  • Food debris in the mouth
  • An unclean tongue
  • Certain medicines

Bad breath can be avoided by looking after your teeth properly. Start with brushing your teeth after every meal. Keep your teeth clean and free of bacteria. Make sure you floss regularly. This will ensure that bacteria do not breed on the food particles that remain stuck between your teeth. Make a habit of rinsing your mouth thoroughly after consuming anything. Also, be sure to use a good mouthwash twice everyday to rinse your mouth.

It is very important to cleanse your tongue. If your tongue is a safe haven for bacteria, cleaning your teeth will not eradicate bad breath. Clean your tongue gently once everyday.

Keep your mouth hydrated. Drink 2-3 liters of water everyday to keep your mouth hydrated. A dry mouth is one of the major factors causing bad breath.

If regular dental care does not banish the bad breath, visit your dentist. Inform him of all the medicines you take. Your dentist should be able to find and treat the underlying cause of bad breath.

Happy smiling!
