Home Remedies for a Toothache
A toothache can cause much more than pain. It causes extreme discomfort and makes you irritable. All of us get a toothache at some time or the other. However, if it happens too frequently, that’s a cause for concern. If you have a toothache for more than two days, rush to your dentist. I do not generally talk about home remedies but some remedies give you temporary relief until your dentist finds the underlying cause of the pain and treats you accordingly.
A garlic clove is your friend when your tooth aches badly. Ignore its smell for a while and put it on the tooth that is aching. Garlic is an instant pain reliever.
If you have access to a guava tree, try chewing on some guava leaves when your tooth hurts. This will help in reducing the pain.
Another instant pain-reliever is salt and pepper. Add a pinch of pepper to a spoonful of salt and apply the mixture to the affected area.
Dip some cotton wool in clove oil and keep on the affected area. Clove oil is an excellent remedy for getting rid of pain in the mouth. Clove oil not only acts as a painkiller but is also an antibacterial. If you cannot find clove oil, you can chew on some cloves and keep them on the affected area. Important: Don’t use clove oil on people with ailments such as diabetes, liver or kidney disorders. Don’t use it on children, expecting mothers and nursing mothers.

Don’t rely on home-remedies for too long. Remember, they just bring temporary relief. You should see your dentist if your toothache has stayed for too long.
