How to Keep Bad Breath at Bay
The simplest way to avoid bad breath is regular and proper dental care. And this is not something that requires a lot from you – just a few minutes everyday. And yet, several of us complain of dental problems. Bad breath is one problem that ruins your image in front of others, often without you not realizing it. Let me share with some simple tips to avoid bad breath.
- Clean your tongue immediately after you have brushed and flossed your teeth. Clean teeth don’t guarantee a fresh breath unless the tongue is also clean.
- Rinse your mouth after consuming anything. You cannot possibly brush every time you put something in your mouth. So, brush after your meals but rinse every time you eat or drink something. It does not matter how many times you have a snack, follow it up by rinsing the mouth well. Also, don’t replace brushing after meals with just rinsing.
- Keep your mouth hydrated. Drink 2-3 liters of water everyday to keep your mouth hydrated. A dry mouth is one of the major factors causing bad breath.
- Cut down on smoking and drinking. Tobacco and alcohol cause our breath to smell bad, apart from triggering other oral problems. Cut down on the number of cigarettes you smoke and the number of drinks you take for healthy teeth and fresh breath.
- Clean your mouth thoroughly after you have had pungent food. Onion and garlic are no friends to your breath. Seafood and some types of meat also cause your mouth to stink. You just need to be conscious about this and take proper care after you consume such food.
- Ask your dentist if one of your medicines is giving you the bad odor in the mouth. You can ask your doctor to suggest alternatives for such medicines.
Keeping bad breath at bay is not really that difficult. Make an effort and go flaunt a charming smile.
