How to Prevent Early Tooth Loss

In order to prevent tooth loss, you have to understand the importance of dental care and take care of your oral health. Let’s look at what you need to do to avoid getting dentures.

Brush after your meals. Make sure that you spend at least two-three minutes brushing your teeth. It is important to leave a gap of an hour between a meal and brushing as your teeth are extremely vulnerable after a meal. If you brush too soon, you may end up eroding the enamel.

Choose your toothbrush with care. Use a small-headed one so that it reaches the far corners in your mouth. And yes, don’t forget to change your toothbrush every three months. In fact, if the bristles look tattered any time earlier, change the toothbrush immediately.

Eat a lot of fiber. Make roughage a part of every meal of yours. This helps clean your mouth and takes care of your overall health. Also, include milk and other dairy products in your daily diet. This will give you the much-needed calcium. Try to have balanced meals. And avoid drinking fruit juices. Go for whole fruits instead.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your mouth salivated. This prevents the formation of bacteria. Also, develop the habit of rinsing your mouth after you have consumed something.

Refrain from using your teeth as tools to open bottles. Don’t bite your nails. Avoid habits like grinding or clenching your teeth.

Even if you consider you teeth healthy, don’t avoid visiting the dentist. Visit him/her every six months or whenever you notice a cause for concern.

Happy smiling!
