Hygiene is the most basic criterion that distinguishes between the ones you want to mingle with and the ones you do not. Oral hygiene speaks volumes of a person’s personality and character. At least, it makes or breaks the first impression. In today’s post, we’ll understand what oral hygiene is all about.

What does oral hygiene mean?
Oral hygiene implies healthy teeth. A high standard of oral hygiene will mean that:

  • Your teeth are always clean.

  • There are no stains on the teeth.
  • You suffer from no dental or gum disease.
  • You do not have bad breath.

How can one maintain oral hygiene?
Oral hygiene is easy to practice. Good oral hygiene comes with a little discipline. If you want to sport a good smile, you wouldn’t mind doing the following:

  • Brushing at least twice a day, preferably after meals

  • Brushing before going to bed
  • Flossing once everyday
  • Cleaning the tongue everyday
  • Drinking plenty of water throughout the day
  • Rinsing the mouth thoroughly after eating or drinking anything
  • Cutting down on sugary snacks
  • Eating balanced meals

Maintaining oral hygiene minimizes the chances of any oral problem. It keeps bacteria at bay, thus preventing the formation of tartar on the teeth. It helps keep your teeth and gums healthy. Healthy teeth and gums will give you the scintillating smile you long for.

Apart from practicing good oral hygiene, you must visit your dentist regularly. Your dentist will ensure that there are absolutely no reasons to worry. Ask him/her for tips to practice oral hygiene.

Happy smiling!
