I know many of you yawn when you hear the word ‘routine’ after ‘dental care‘. You are always looking for the word ‘tips’ after ‘dental care’, aren’t you? Today, I thought of making your day. So, I won’t talk about the routine anymore, but I won’t talk about dull and boring tips either. Today, I am going to talk about various ways to care for your teeth that are simple and easy to implement. So, here you go.

Drink tea but clean your mouth afterwards. Tea contains fluoride, which is good for your teeth. Tea, like water, keeps your mouth hydrated thereby preventing oral problems. Don’t forget to clean your mouth well after finishing your cup of tea.
Eat citrus fruits. Fruits like lemon, guava, orange, grapefruit and tangerine provide the necessary vitamin C required by the body. The deficiency of vitamin C causes gums to bleed. It is important to make citrus fruits a part of our daily diet. The vitamin C comes from the citric acid in the fruits.
Say cheese with cheese! You will be happy to know that cheese is very good for you – of course, when consumed in moderation. Cheese provides the necessary calcium to keep your teeth and bones healthy. If you dislike the taste of milk, go for cheese.
Step out. Vitamin D is an important vitamin for maintaining overall health. It also helps prolong the life of your teeth. So, just step out into the sun and you have got an important vitamin in your body. Take all the necessary precautions to make sure the sun does not burn you. What you need is 10 minutes of exposure to the sun twice a week.

Hope you enjoyed the new kind of dental care tips today. Keep smiling!

Dental care has to be done in a disciplined way or it loses its value. The word “routine” has to follow the term “dental care” (sigh) or dental care does not make sense. Dental care is not like one session at a spa. If you want a healthy smile, you have got to pay attention to your teeth and gums every day.

Brush after every meal. Brushing only in the morning won’t help. It just freshens up your breath. Brushing after meals is what helps keep the teeth clean.

Floss everyday. Flossing is as important as brushing. While brushing takes care of the surfaces of the teeth, flossing ensures that the spaces between the teeth are cleaned.

Clean your tongue everyday. Do not clean your tongue too frequently. Cleaning your tongue once a day is more than enough. Too much scraping can make cracks on your tongue, making home for bacteria.

Rinse your mouth after consuming anything. A sip of juice or a bite of chocolate can help bacteria grow and flourish inside your mouth if you are hours away from your post-meal brushing. You cannot possibly brush every time you put something in your mouth. However, you can rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash.

Visit your dentist twice a year. A dental check-up every six months is mandatory. Don’t wait for a symptom of a problem to show before you make the appointment with the dentist.

Coming back to spas, you an try the smile spa once in a while for a rejuvenating dental experience.

Happy smiling!

Dental care is not rocket science. It is just about practicing hygiene. And eating right. And listening to your dentist. Not that difficult, right? If you love your smile, here’s what you have got to do.

Brush after every meal. Brushing just once a day is not enough. It is important to clean the mouth off all the food debris that remain in the mouth after a meal. Just make sure that you wait an hour after a meal before you clean the teeth.

Floss everyday. Flossing is as important as brushing. While brushing takes care of the surfaces of the teeth, flossing ensures that the spaces between the teeth are cleaned. So, floss once a day, immediately after you have brushed your teeth.

Clean your tongue. You just need to clean it gently once everyday. Too much scraping can make cracks on your tongue, making home for bacteria.

Rinse your mouth after consuming anything. You cannot possibly brush every time you put something in your mouth. Rinse your mouth at such times. Rinsing helps your dental health in two ways. First, it cleanses your mouth. Second, it hydrates it and thus avoids problems borne out of a dry mouth.

Visit your dentist every six months. Not everyone takes this advice seriously. Why would you visit the dentist if you don’t have a problem? Well, first, you may not find out you have a problem until it’s late. Second, visiting the dentist regularly will make sure you don’t get a dental problem.

So, now that you know the basics of dental care, we expect to see warm smiles from you soon.

Happy smiling!

Many of my friends claim that they follow a good dental care routine. But I know for sure that most of them don’t even know what good dental care is. Do you? Answer the flowing questions to find out.

Do you brush after every meal? The first brushing in the morning is only for freshening up your breath. It is the brushing after the meals that actually keep bacteria and dental problems at bay.

Do you floss everyday? Flossing is as important as brushing. While brushing takes care of the surfaces of the teeth, flossing ensures that the spaces between the teeth are cleaned.

Do you clean your tongue regularly? Some say that you should clean your tongue as often as you brush your teeth. However, gently cleaning your tongue once a day is more than enough. Too much scraping can make cracks on your tongue, making home for bacteria.

Do you rinse your mouth often? A sip of juice or a bite of chocolate can help bacteria grow and flourish inside your mouth if you are hours away from your post-meal brushing. You cannot possibly brush every time you put something in your mouth. However, you can rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash.

Do you visit your dentist at least twice a year? You may not have a visible reason to visit your dentist, but you should still go for a dental check-up like you would for your general health. One visit in six months should be a part of your annual itinerary.

If your answers to the above-mentioned questions have been in the affirmative, you are definitely flaunting an envious smile. Happy smiling!

No, today, I won’t start the post with the word ‘routine’. But routine is how we live our lives, don’t we? We get up, have or skip our breakfast, rush to work or work at home, spend our evenings watching TV or going out, cooking in or dining out. We have a routine in everything we do, even if we don’t acknowledge it. So, what is so bad about a dental care routine? Yeah, I know. You don’t like the fact that a certain routine is being imposed on you. Well, don’t follow this routine, but then don’t expect to keep all your teeth throughout your life. I won’t come and break them; you will do that yourself – slowly and quite painfully.

If you are still reading, the best way to take care of your teeth is by giving them due attention. Let me tell you what you need to do.

Brush your teeth at least two times a day, preferably after meals. You must brush once before going to the bed.

Floss your teeth once a day. This cleans your teeth thoroughly.

Scrap your tongue gently once a day. Cleaning the teeth is not enough. However, the tongue should not be scraped too hard as it may open the pores for bacteria.

Make fiber a part of every meal of yours. Go for vegetables and whole fruits. This helps clean your mouth and takes care of your overall health.

Keep your mouth hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the. This prevents the formation of bacteria in the mouth.

Rinse your mouth after you have consumed anything, be it a sip of milk or a biscuit.

Visit your dentist once very six months. Visit sooner if you notice any sign of a dental problem.

Isn’t this routine simple?

Keep smiling!

Numerous times on this blog, I have talked about following a good dental care routine. What exactly is a dental care routine? Let me take you through the five most important elements of this routine.

Brushing after meals
The first brushing in the morning freshens your breath and helps you get rid of the bad breath. It is the brushing after every meal that actually keeps the bacteria at bay.

Everyday flossing
Flossing is as important as brushing. While brushing takes care of the surfaces of the teeth, flossing ensures that the spaces between the teeth are cleaned.

Cleaning the tongue
It is important to clean your tongue once a day. Don’t scrape it too much at that can make cracks on your tongue, making home for bacteria.

Rinsing your mouth
It is important to rinse your mouth after consuming anything. A sip of juice or a bite of chocolate can help bacteria grow and flourish inside your mouth if you are hours away from your post-meal brushing. You cannot possibly brush every time you put something in your mouth. But you can rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash.

Visiting the dentist
You may not always have a visible reason to visit your dentist, but you should still visit him/her for a check-up like you would for your general health. One visit in six months should be a part of your annual itinerary.

Following a dental care will help only if you keep away from certain habits like teeth-grinding, nail-biting, and snacking on sweets between meals.

Happy smiling!

In August this year, I wrote about five interesting dental care tips. Last evening someone told me that he found the post very interesting. Now, why is that people appreciate the not-so-normal stuff more than the normal? You would say that’s because normal means mundane. And a routine too is mundane. That’s the reason why people ignore any talk of the dental care routine.

Now, brushing and flossing may sound common and mundane but they are what make your smile look good. No amount of ‘extra’ or ‘interesting’ dental care will help if you are not paying attention to the basics. So, what are these dental care basics? Read on.

Brush at least twice a day, preferably after meals.

Brush before you go to bed. This will ensure that bacteria don’t play in your mouth while you are asleep.

Brush for at least 2-3 minutes, every time. Brushing for just a few seconds doesn’t help clean the teeth.

Wait for at least an hour after a meal before you pick up the toothbrush. If you brush too soon after eating, you can erode the enamel of the teeth.

Follow brushing with thorough flossing. This will ensure thorough cleaning of the teeth.

Clean your tongue using a tongue-scraper once a day. Clean teeth won’t help if the tongue is allowing bacteria to flourish.

Rinse your mouth after eating or drinking anything. Since brushing is not possible every time you consume something, you should rinse your mouth thoroughly.

Now, that’s not asking for too much. Once you start appreciating the basics, you will realize they are far from being mundane.

Happy smiling!

Everybody talks about following a proper dental care routine but a lot of people don’t know what this routine is all about. So we thought we will enlighten you (as always!). We have discussed the dental care routine several times in the blog but let’s visit it once again to help the uninitiated.

Brush after every meal. If you cannot brush after a certain meal, make sure you rinse your mouth thoroughly. The first brushing in the morning is merely to freshen our breath; it doesn’t actually clean the mouth. That doesn’t mean you skip brushing in the morning.
Note: Refrain from brushing immediately after a meal as your teeth are extremely vulnerable at that time. Wait for an hour after the meal before you brush.

Brush before going to bed. This will help keep bacteria at bay when you are asleep.

Floss everyday. Flossing is as important as brushing. Make it a point to floss immediately after you have brushed. You can choose to floss after you have brushed in the night before hitting the bed.

Use a tongue-scraper to clean your tongue once a day. However, make sure you clean it gently. Too much scraping can make cracks on your tongue, attracting bacteria.

Rinse your mouth after you eat or drink anything. This will ensure that your mouth remains clean and hydrated at all times.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Water will not only help prevent gum diseases caused because of a dry mouth but it will also keep your teeth clean.

It’s really not rocket science, is it? So, what are you waiting for? Get working towards a sparkling smile! Happy smiling!

In every other post, I talk about following a proper dental care routine. What is a proper dental care routine anyway? Let’s find out.

A good dental care routine requires you to do the following:

Brush after every meal. If you cannot brush after a certain meal, make sure you rinse your mouth thoroughly. The first brushing in the morning is merely to freshen our breath; it doesn’t actually clean the mouth. That doesn’t mean you skip brushing in the morning.
Note: Don’t brush immediately after a meal; wait for an hour after the meal before you brush.

Floss everyday. Flossing is as important as brushing. Make it a point to floss immediately after you have brushed. You can choose to floss after you have brushed in the night before hitting the bed.

Rinse your mouth after you eat or drink anything. This will ensure that your mouth remains clean and hydrated at all times.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Yeah, this also falls under the dental care routine. Water will not only help prevent gum diseases caused because of a dry mouth but it will also keep your teeth clean.

Apart from following the dental care routine, make it a point to visit your dentist every six months.

Happy smiling!

Follow a dental care routine. Here I go again. Well folks, you cannot think of looking good and smelling nice if you skip your bath everyday (what a nasty idea!). Then why do you expect to sport a sparkling smile without taking care of your teeth daily.

Here’s what you should do if you want to woo people with your smile.

Brush at least twice a day. Make sure you brush before you hit the bed. If you can manage brushing after all your meals, you will definitely boast of good dental health all your life.

Wait for at least an hour after a meal before you pick up the toothbrush.

Floss immediately after you brush. This helps clean your teeth thoroughly. Floss at least once a day.

Clean you tongue using a scraper once a day. Do this immediately after you have brushed and flossed. Don’t be too hard on your tongue while cleaning it.

Rinse your mouth after eating or drinking anything. Since brushing is not possible every time you pop something in your mouth, rinsing is a good option.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. This will not only keep your mouth hydrated but also clean. A hydrated mouth prevents gum and dental diseases.

Change your toothbrush every three months, even if it appears new. If it looks tattered sooner, change it right away.

Don’t eat something sweet just before hitting the bed. Ending the day with a dessert may sound like a good idea but if you do indulge in one, make sure you follow it up with through brushing.

And yeah, don’t forget to visit your dentist once every six months. Happy smiling!
