Teeth Problems (4): Sensitive Teeth

Continuing with the series, we will discuss the problem of sensitive teeth today.
What is sensitivity of teeth?
Sensitivity of teeth refers to the discomfort felt in the teeth on exposure to hot or cold food. People may also experience discomfort on consuming sweets or on touching their teeth.
What causes sensitivity of teeth?
The following factors may be responsible for teeth sensitivity:
- Eroded enamel
- Aggressive brushing
- Periodontitis
- Clenching and grinding
- Tooth decay
How can you prevent teeth from being sensitive?
Follow the tips given below to prevent teeth sensitivity:
- Follow a proper dental care routine.
- Do not be hard on the teeth while brushing.
- Avoid clenching or grinding your teeth.
- Do not use your teeth as an instrument for opening cans etc.
- Do not ignore any symptoms of a dental problem.
If you have sensitive teeth, visit your dentist to figure out the cause of the sensitivity. Your dentist will be able to recommend you the right treatment for your condition.
