What is a Good Dental Care Routine?
In every other post, I talk about following a proper dental care routine. What is a proper dental care routine anyway? Let’s find out.
A good dental care routine requires you to do the following:
- Brush after every meal. If you cannot brush after a certain meal, make sure you rinse your mouth thoroughly. The first brushing in the morning is merely to freshen our breath; it doesn’t actually clean the mouth. That doesn’t mean you skip brushing in the morning.
Note: Don’t brush immediately after a meal; wait for an hour after the meal before you brush. - Brush before going to bed. This will help keep bacteria at bay when you are asleep.
- Floss everyday. Flossing is as important as brushing. Make it a point to floss immediately after you have brushed. You can choose to floss after you have brushed in the night before hitting the bed.
- Clean your tongue regularly. Use a tongue-scraper to clean your tongue once a day. However, make sure you clean it gently. Too much scraping can make cracks on your tongue, making home for bacteria.
- Rinse your mouth after you eat or drink anything. This will ensure that your mouth remains clean and hydrated at all times.
- Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Yeah, this also falls under the dental care routine. Water will not only help prevent gum diseases caused because of a dry mouth but it will also keep your teeth clean.
Apart from following the dental care routine, make it a point to visit your dentist every six months.
Happy smiling!
