What is on Your Dental Care Checklist?

How much do you love your smile? Here are some simple dental care tips that should be on your dental care checklist:

  • Brush after your meals. Make sure that you spend at least two-three minutes brushing your teeth.

  • Leave a gap of an hour between a meal and brushing. The teeth are extremely vulnerable after a meal. If you brush too soon, you may end up eroding the enamel.
  • Use a small-headed toothbrush so that it reaches the far corners in your mouth.
  • Change your toothbrush every three months. If the bristles look tattered at any time, change the toothbrush immediately.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your mouth salivated. This prevents the formation of bacteria.
  • Eat a lot of fiber. Make roughage a part of every meal of yours. This helps clean your mouth and takes care of your overall health.
  • Opt for fruits instead of fruit juices. The fiber in the fruit helps keep the tongue clean which further keep the bacteria at bay.
  • Develop the habit of rinsing your mouth after you have consumed something.
  • Bite into a carrot or an apple when you feel hungry. They cleanse your mouth along with satisfying that hunger.
  • Do not use your teeth to bite nails or open containers even if you think your teeth are very strong.

Apart from following these tips, make sure you visit your dentist every six months. And yeah, if you ever notice the slightest dental problem, let your dentist know.

Happy smiling!
