What You Should Not Do If You Love Your Teeth?

Published by Wayzata Dental Staff at 1:01 pm under Dental Care

Like several things that you should do to take care of your teeth, there are many you shouldn’t do. And I am not just talking about you-should-not-skip-brushing kind of stuff. I am talking about some serious don’t dos. Read on.

When brushing, you should not skip any tooth or parts of your teeth. Bacteria can flourish in places you do not clean regularly. You should not rub your tongue with the brush vigorously. This dehydrates the tongue, making it a home for bacteria.

You should never use a tattered toothbrush. Invest in a soft-bristled toothbrush when you see your toothbrush wearing out.

Try not to eat sugary food between meals and before going to bed. Bacteria love sweet; keep your mouth clean before going to bed. Also, avoid indulging in sugary food, carbonated drinks etc.

You should avoid making your mouth dry. Saliva keeps your mouth moist. Try to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to make sure your mouth is not bereft of saliva. And yes, you should not skip rinsing your mouth every time you eat or drink anything. Rinsing your mouth with plain water, better with a good mouthwash helps keep your mouth clean and moist.

Finally, you should never ignore any symptom of tooth problem or gum disease. Visit your dentist as soon as you can. Do not hesitate to visit your dentist for correcting uneven or chipped teeth and whitening stained, yellow teeth.

Dental care is as much about adopting good habits as it is about avoiding bad ones. Happy smiling!
